Legal Car Tints in Florida for SUVs
If you own an SUV, then following options tint percentages are legal for you.
Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed but only on a small portion of the windshield. That is the top 20%. That’s demarcated by the manufacturer’s AS-1 line. Wondering what is the AS-1 line? You can find the letters AS-1 written on the windshield to mark the point above which you can apply car tint.
Front Side Windows: Legal window tint for SUV side windows is 5%, 10% 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, 50% and 60%. Any tint percentage above that is illegal in Florida for SUVs.
Back Side Windows: The back side windows can have up to 80% tint darkness. It also cannot be tinted with 95% or 90% tint films that are very very dark.
Rear Window: Legal window tint for the rear window of an SUV is the same as that for the back side windows. Anything up to 80% is legal because it does allow more than 15% of the light in.
Legal Car Tints in Florida for Sedans
If you own a sedan, then here are the options for your legal car tints in Florida for your vehicle.
Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed only on the part of the windshield above the AS-1 line. You can find the letters AS-1 written on the windshield above which you can legally apply non-reflective window tint.
Front Side Windows: The front side windows must let 28% of the light in at the very least. That means that you can easily use any tint under 70% for the front side windows.
Back Side Windows: The back side windows must let at least 15% light in. That means that you can use any tint except 85%, 90% and 95%.
Rear Window: The rear window can also be tinted up to 80% but not beyond that.
